Arsenic is an element represented by the swan throughout history. It is considered a poison, but has been used in controlled quantities for healing and medicinal purposes. The downward-pointing triangle overlapping an open triangle is one of the seven symbols commonly used by alchemists to represent this element. The four heads of the swan represent each of the four major elements, Air, Fire, Water, and Earth and the four seasons Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.
