Although Colin was born in London in the mid 60’s, he and his wife Sas (a wonderful artist as well) have lived in the US since 1992. His career as an artist began with the creation of stylized latex fetish clothing, but diverted into 3D representations of comic/anime characters of his own design. Over the years his spectacular creations have varied from life size to enormous creations that range from the erotic to the grotesque and from humorous to frightening. Although Colin has concentrated his work around the female form, he has also produced work involving male characters like the one featured here “Is That An Octopus In Your Pocket (Or Are You Just Happy To See Me?)” which I am very happy to say is in my home, in my private collection. Colin has worked with celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Kanye West for their private collections as well as pieces for stage performance, but also creates work that is affordable for the general art lover. Although I have not featured it here, Colin has been creating a range of larger than life lip sculptures, and faces that reference everything from classic pin-up, to science fiction, to anime, as well as the deformed and demonic. All of his work pushes realism to the side and focuses on caricature and stylization. Visit his website below to learn more about him and his work and follow him on Instagram, where he posts regularly about his work, favorite movies, love of animals, and his fascination with exotic shoes.

Blog StatementAs of October 2016, I intended to use this blog as an accompaniment to my Facebook page and Instagram page. On this blog I post information and updates about my work as well as once a month I highlighted an artist whose work I like (I stopped doing this when I opened my gallery www.GalleryBlueDoor.com). As of March 2017, I began posting a monthly Story Entry with an accompanying illustration of mine. In mid-2019 I took a break from this, but it will resume. Archives
