Upcoming group show - Mt Vernon Art Exhibition

11/26/2016

Picture
I will have 20 of my illustrations in this inaugural group show at TLP Photo in Mt. Vernon. The idea is to provide a free space for local artists to show their work. The work will be available to view from December 1st-3rd. December 1st is the same date as the lighting of the monument, so if you are around for that, stop by and check it out. I will have work priced from $50-$400 dollars in this show. Check out the website below for more details about the exhibition and the other artists involved.

Artist of the month - Christina Bothwell

11/1/2016

Picture
Christina Bothwell taught herself how to cast glass and work with ceramics after studying painting at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Her earlier work had a similar quality, but after incorporating cast glass into her sculptures, the pieces she created seemed to have more of a living quality. Humans and animals are combined to depict a transformation, while at times, the cast glass portions of the sculptures have represented the soul of a departed person or animal or even the spirit of a someone watching over. Christina's work has been shown in galleries across the United States as well as around the world. Visit her website to learn more about her and her beautiful sculptures.

    Blog Statement

As of October 2016, I intended to use this blog as an accompaniment to my Facebook page and Instagram page. On this blog I post information and updates about my work as well as once a month I  highlighted an artist whose work I like (I stopped doing this when I opened my gallery www.GalleryBlueDoor.com).  As of March 2017, I began posting a monthly Story Entry with an accompanying illustration of mine. In mid-2019 I took a break from this, but it will resume.
